- Abstract
- The democratization of e-commerce in the luxury industry is attracting authors attention. The study illustrates the concept of e-commerce, and evaluates its adoption and acceptance within the luxury fashion market. Indeed, luxury fashion brands have been hesitating for a long time before adopting this medium. The author aims to examine the reasons why luxury fashion companies used to avoid e-commerce and how they decided to adopted this medium without compromising their reputation and image. This research paper is supported by available literature, theoretical concepts and primary data. Moreover, this research paper looks at the impacts that technologies and internet, have had on the luxury fashion world. Therefore, the author aims to examine the perception of both consumer and luxury companies on e-commerce in order to understand its acceptance. The selected subject is relevant within the luxury industry in todays technology oriented world. The study employs diverse research methods in order to collect data and pertinent statistics. Data have been collected data from UK male and female consumers, plus renowned luxury fashion companies. The study has six main chapters namely introduction (introducing the research topic), literature review (empirical findings discussion), methodology (means of data collection), findings (discussion of findings, with the analysis of interviews and questionnaires), result discussion (in depth assessment of findings), and conclusion and recommendations.
