- Abstract
- Workplace bullying has increasingly been recognized as a serious problem with numerous health problems and work related repercussions. Studies that have explored workplace bullying from the perpetrator's perspective have emphasized the role of work environment and personality as antecedents of engaging in aggressive behavior. Interestingly, no studies have explored the impact of extrinsic factors, such as family-work conflict on bullying behavior. The aim of this study is to advance the knowledge on workplace bullying from the perpetrator's perspective by exploring the role of personality, work environment, job insecurity and work-family conflict as predictors of workplace bullying. A group of 74 participants aged from 19-60 from the general public were recruited through snowball sampling. The current study was an online study that was developed using www.surveymonkey.com. Participants completed five questionnaires measuring, workplace bullying, family-work conflict, job insecurity, work environment and personality. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling. The data suggested that as neuroticism and job insecurity increase, work environment satisfaction decreases, which in combination with increased family-work conflict result in greater levels of bullying behaviour."
