- Abstract
- The Dark Triad traits narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism have been long explored when it comes to sexual matters. Furthermore, the traits have been previously linked to ailments in an individual's everyday life as well as sexual aspects. This study aims to explore The Dark Triad traits when it relates to multiple dimensions of sexual issues to gain a broader perspective of all three Dark Triad traits. The study compromised of 95 participants recruited using snowball sampling through various social media as well as face to face recruitment. A quantitative, cross-sectional, and non-experimental design measured levels of the Dark Triad in individuals and participants attitudes towards their personal sexuality perspective through the two surveys: SD3 and MSQ. Data was gathered using a self-reporting online survey administered via Survey Monkey. Hypotheses was mostly supported when investigating correlations between Dark Triad traits and multiple dimensions of sexual tendencies while discovering more correlations that were not expected. Differences between genders shows that men are more likely to score higher on dark triad score than women. Additional analysis investigated what variables predicted the scores on each of the MSQ subscales that were found to be significant. Narcissism was linked with sexual tendencies as supported by the literature. Machiavellianism and well as psychopathy found to have unexpected links to sexual depression, sexual anxiety, and fear of sexual relationships.
