In the modern world, there continues to be an overhaul in the way most processes are carried out. In business for instance, there is an overwhelming emergence of new trends and practices that has transformed global trends of doing business. Lately companies and multinational corporations have turned to integrating socio political and cultural strategic interventions in their decision making moving away from conventional emphasis on economically oriented goals and objectives. The last few decades has seen the rise of several Asian economies compared to other global financial systems. Most of these have recorded economic excellence due to their swift adjustment to intercontinental industry principles and practices. China for instance has seen a tremendous growth in Gross Domestic Product due to development of manufacturing industries which is funded by direct foreign investment (D'emurge, 2001). This study seeks to analyse the challenges and procedures that most corporations are using to fill in the gap caused as a result of high demand to meet the human resource shortfall in the globalization era. Further the exploration will delve into understanding the needs and challenges of expatriate workforces especially in the Asian countries.
With the underlying requisites for service in most regions within East Asia; where culture primarily differs from the European line of thought there is a paramount need for foreigners to prepare ahead due to overpowering challenges should they fail to plan ahead. A particular mention for expatriates from Italy foraying into East Asia plays out a scenario where though the requirement for excellence in managerial traits is highly regarded, personality together with multicultural flexibility and familiarity with the social traits in a host country are a central element for foreigner to grasp. For these expatriates, having a creative and adaptable capacity, language skills, previous skills, mobility determine how well the host society perceives him/her together with his/her occupational success. Expatriates should be conversant with handling unexpected contingencies and have the capacity to withstand challenging environment. - Subject
