Regent's Park.

Early beginnings : the corner of Regent's Park which is now home to the University was once the site of Marylebone Farm, a house built for Sir William Clarke, who was Cromwell's secretary during the Civil War but then declared loyalty to King Charles on his Restoration and died in battle in 1666. The farm prospered until it became the largest in the county of Middlesex.

From the exhibition held at the event on 29 June 2013 to install the University's first Chancellor and to award honorary fellowships.

Abstract

A bucolic scene from the nineteenth century, with South Villa in the background. The building was demolished in the early twentieth century to make way for the new buildings of Bedford College.
