Dr Kesseba is an organisational scientist whose research examines how organisations are governed across boundaries. Its particular focus is the individual actor: how governance and performance are shaped by those who manage or influence organisations, each facing a distinct kind of pressure within the asymmetries of power around them. Running through this work is a concern with the ethical dimension of governance: the question of what managers hold to be right, and what follows from it. His work sits at the intersection of management and organisation studies, the philosophy of management, and ethics in management. Methodologically, he works qualitatively and through case study, drawing on hermeneutics and on neo-empiricist research philosophy.

His current research is organised around micro-foundations: the proposition that organisational outcomes are best explained by the tactics, moral logic, and underlying values of the individuals who manage or influence them. This trajectory now centres on the development of The Consequences of Interdependence Theory. It examines whether and how those values and beliefs interact with the power asymmetries actors experience: how they respond, and what ought to ground that response. His research is published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Management and Governance and the Journal of Islamic Business and Management, where the theory begins to take shape; it has also been presented at international conferences in Austria, China, Florida, and the United Kingdom.

Dr Kesseba brings to this work seventeen years of international experience as an industry practitioner and executive manager in management consultancy and the extractive and energy industries, working with large, medium, and small portfolio entities across four continents. That background gives him direct access to the contractual and governance settings he studies, and informs his consultancy in various domains including the internationalisation of firms, extractive industry contractual agreements, public-private partnerships, supply chain management, and ethical management practices. He supervises and teaches research methods and research philosophy at doctoral level, alongside management, international business, and global supply chain management.

Dr Kesseba holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University. He is a Committee Member of the Inter-Organizational Collaboration Special Interest Group at the British Academy of Management, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK, a keynote speaker at the Geological Society in London, Visiting Professor of Business Administration at Bloom Business School in Egypt, and Visiting Lecturer in Research Philosophy on the doctoral programmes at Sheffield Business School.
